Wanting to build an automated binocular chair, I have been looking for options for materials that will stand up to the moisture from the severe dewing that occurs.
Think of building a chair that can stand in the rain and laugh at it.
What suggestions do you have?
Thanks

Ipe from Brazil, supposedly harvested in a sustainable way, under the oversight of what we are told are incorruptable officials,(but there is some doubt, after reading a National Geographic article about the exploitation of Brazilian forests) is used for house decks. It does not float. I was given some remnants from a deck project in the neighborhood. They covered some gaps, until I have the inclination to rebuild a walkway. It seems very resistance to sunlight and occasional incidental watering with a hose.
Teak is expensive, and needs to be oiled periodically.
There are plastic, artificial products for decking, which simulate these woods.

Aluminum laughs at the rain. So do many plastics. Or are you set on wood of one type or another?

stainless steel for the main structure, and aluminum for other parts. those will not rust

Thanks for the responses so far.
As I mentioned earlier, I want to build a chair that you could soak with a hose and it would not be affected.
Most of the chairs I see degrade upon repeated exposure to dewing.

Would not such a ( presumably sophisticated and treasured )accessory not be worthy of a waterproof cover of some sort ?
Just another fleeting thought from way out left ! :-)

I agree and that angle I have covered. (pun intended);<)
But a cover does not help when you are using the chair for hours on end...and the dewing is occurring.

Just another thought -- would it not be advantageous to have a removable portion of the actual seat , perhaps based around a product idea such as this one ?

Good idea.
But the seat one is sitting on is the only part that doesn't get soaked with dew.
