If you think there's too much plastic on the ETX..
      #3364323 - 09/29/09 05:25 PM Attachment (37 downloads)

I picked up my 125 with no finder, so it's had a straight through version on for awhile, then I noticed this on our not-so-friendly neighbourhood auction site: a military diagonal made by Cooke, Troughton, & Simms in the early part of the 20th century...

That's purty... Makes your scope most unique. I take it the mirror (or is it a prism?) is in good shape?

Lovely. It probably weighs more than the rest of the scope, do you need a balance weight?

There's something very cool about this melding of old and new. 100 years and this thing fits your ETX like they were made for each other! If the original maker was able to see his work attached to something almost - by the standards of his day - indescribable, I wonder what he would have thought?

I agree, it's pretty cool...I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

No balance weight required...it's about 3 times the weight of the standard Meade RA finder, but probably helps balance the front heavy ETX tube anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's a prism, and the optics are fine. It it even has the original internal cross hairs with a typical gap in the very centre so when directly on target, the target is fully visible.
