Second attemt with PST and Nikon D200 (Unmodified) new
      #3363218 - 09/29/09 07:08 AM

This is my second attempt using my Nikon D200 on my PST with a 2x barlow. This is 9 images bracketed with 1EV between each image.

Still working on a good way to focus.

Anyone having any tips on how to avoid/remove newton rings?

hi goran

usually it's the camera. but it can also be the barlow. that's the reasen i recommend to make a series without barlow

Hi Goran,

Paul Hyndman has written a useful primer on H-alpha solar imaging which includes a page on Newton's Rings.

You can find it as a PDF download at the foot of his home page:

Astro Nut

It's worth a read.

His website also contains an interesting progression of H-Alpha images that he took with an unmodified DSLR with comments about the difficulties he encountered and worked around.

Cheers,

Keith
