Parallax Series 125 Mount
      #3368761 - 10/03/09 03:18 PM

Does anyone have or had one of these? I have a Mewlon 250 that needs a mount and my budget is less than $2000. I've located one with a Mel Bartels GOTO system with lots of extras.

Thanks,

Chuck

Never owned one but they do have a good rep......and I know a couple of folks who do have one. Never heard them complain.

If you are talking about the one on AM for sale it is a bit overpriced IMO......

The one I'm looking at comes with the parallax portable pier, losmandy polar scope, several Robin Casady counterweights and Mel Bartels GOTO system for $1800 ...

What do you think? Still overpriced? I haven't committed yet.

You must be talking about the ad that is fairly old where he was also selling a C11 which already sold?

And no I do not consider that overpriced.....not at all! Actually it is a great price. The only reason I dont already own it is he was in CA and I am in GA and his ad specified pickup only assuming we are talking about the same one

There is another that posted today or yesterday that I was refering to when I said overpriced.

Ah yes I just looked at the recent one. That is over priced. I'm trying to work out pickup with the one in CA. Probably have it figured out this weekend. My son's in GA also, he's a Ranger at Fort Benning just got back from overseas ... Hopefully he'll be able to look through the scope with me soon ...

Please thank your son for his service for me! And good luck with the mount, it should make a really nice setup.

Thanks I will. I just spoke to the seller, unfortunately in the several weeks that have passed since I was waiting for him to estimate shipping my financial situation (two uncovered tooth implants) has changed temporarily. If you're interested in buying it, please PM me. I encouraged him to repost it on astromart. Shipping was $200 to me.

Regards,

Chuck

Just sprung for a older GM-100 Losmandy mount myself so the astro kitty is broke right now. At that price if he will ship it I would think it would sell quickly.

Yes, I recommended he repost it. Good luck with your GM-100 ...

It looks as though the mount is back out on AM. If I didn't already have a GM-100, I would consider buying it.

I just checked it out but it does not have a guider input socket, which I need. Talked with the first owner as well and he says it was a very good mount.

If $2K is your limit you might want to look at a used Vixen SXD. I have a Mewlon 250 on mine and it handles it without any issues at least as visual goes.

Thanks Texas, I have a used SXW that's just had the DEC motor replaced and been adjusted and tuned by Vixen. They said it should handle the Mewlon 250 fine as well as long as I balance it well.

Thanks much!

Chuck
