Hi all,
This is my first lunar sketch. The other night I went out with my Meade 300 80mm f/15 to view the GRS on Jupiter but the seeing was not up to it. I turned the scope on the Moon and began scanning the terminator when I came across Bailly. WOW! What a scene. It was if I were seeing it for the first time. I decided then that I needed to record this magnificent walled plain. Thanks for looking. The three ghost craters are (from bottom to top) Zucchus, Bettinus and finally Wilson.

peace & clear skies,

Richard,
Nice capture! I like the 3D feel I get looking and like the placement of your shadows. Well done.

Richard,
Very nice quick sketch of this large limb crater. I am impressed that you did this in only 15 minutes. That is excellent.

Thanks Jay and Frank. It means a lot to hear from you. I have admired both of your works for a long time here on CN.
I wanted to spend more time with it but was interrupted by several neighbors wanting to have a look at whatever I was looking at.

Richard,
An excellent observation of Bailly. You have captured the craterlets and shadows very nicely. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Great first sketch Richard! Is this really the very lunar first sketch you've done? You've done a wonderful job on this huge limb hugger! Welcome to the excitement of astronomical sketching!

Thank you Carlos. Rich this is really my first lunar sketch, I promise! I have done a few DSO sketches but never attempted a lunar sketch. I felt it was too technical to try since I can't draw or sketch. I found a simple to follow lunar sketch how to by Carol Lakomiak here on CN and just followed her 1-6 steps using a 2B 4B and 6B pencil set. So I guess I owe Carol a big Thank You!
