I'm in the market for my first Go-To mount. The Celestron CG-5 falls right within my budget. However, I'm a little confused over the differences between the two versions of the CG-5 (I provided the links below). They have different Celestron item numbers so I'm assuming there has to be a difference other than the price.
Any help is really appreciated. Javier

I would guess they are exactly the same mount, perhaps different catalog numbers used by different vendors? The 'advanced series' introduced the 'all star' alignment method, but I think it was via updated firmware/software of the handcontroller, and all current CG-5 models can do this (is this correct? ) Fox.

They are one and the same. Those appear to be the stock numbers used by the different vendors within their respective systems.

The difference in part number is curious, but it is clear that both use the same stock photo and both have the same list price.
Between the two, obviously the High Point price is more reasonable. Check around. You may be able to do even better.

Javier,
I ordered a CG5-GT from High Point a while back. If you have any concerns at all, just call and ask for Dave. They're good people and will steer you straight. I have had no issues whatsoever in any transaction with them.
Since they're in Jersey I think this is a great deal for you.

I spoke with them yesterday, they seem like really cool guys. I'll probably take a ride up there and pick it up.
