I did a periodic error correction on my 12" LX200 GPS using PhD guiding to supply the training commands. The training sessions were stable in both DEC and RA. However, when I turn on PEC for RA afterwards the scope drifts in RA several arc-minutes per minute. If I turn off PEC or use the factory installed PEC, the scope tracks fine. The DEC works fine.
I have repeated the process several times with no luck.
Your help would be much appreciated. Ray

Download the free trial version (30 day) of Pempro and use that instead. I think that should be more effective than using PHD guiding. At a guess, I would expect that to get rid of the RA drift problem.

I will give Pempro a try when I return home in a couple of weeks. The description looks good but $150 is more than I would normally spend for any software product. I might be able to fix my problem in 30 days. Thanks for the advice. Ray

In my permanently mounted 10" LX200R situation, I use PHD. My scope is equatorial mounted, drift-aligned, PEC trained, and dynamically balanced using weights on both sides of the OTA. I also use an OAG instead of a guide-scope, because OAGs are not susceptible to differential flexture. All these things improved my DSO imaging efforts. I rarely perform DEC adjustments, but when I do, they are quite small and I perform them manually.
Astrophotography is not necessarily a game for the wealthy, but it is a game for the patient.
