Hi-
I was considering the CG5-GT and was reading Celestrons two workarounds that enable the mount to operate south of 30° latitude.
(read them here)
The workarounds seem like they wouldn't degrade the stability of the mount, but that's why I'm asking.
So, anybody south of 30° using these two workarounds on their CG5?

Pay particular attention to the caution about the mount tipping over.
This is more likely if the mount is used with the legs in their lowest configuration and with no OTA on the mount (like when setting up or taking down).
Had this happen once. Pulled of a C9.25, turned, bumped into the mount, and it toppoled over. No serious damage but it was unsettling to say the least.
With a light scope and only a small amount of counterweight, or when the legs are fully extended, this is not a concern at all. More of a concern with heavy counterweight/low height configuration (Big SCT).
Otherwise, mount is just as solid in either configuration.

Ed- Thanks for the advice.
I found a good deal on this mount (new) so I'm gonna pick one up and try the workarounds.

Even though I am "only" at 30 degrees N, I had to do both these things (remove front bolt, place peg so counterweight is between two legs).
After nearly four years of use neither operation has caused any sort of problem.
