we don't do anything yet as the Admnistration has not yet completed their tasks and access may change.

Edz the archived The vintage binocular discussion thread has no ties to the images anymore. Any chance of resoring them just for a few days so I can save the thread on my computer?

if I understand some of the admin discussions I've been following, in the archives all the pictures are still there, but you need to click on attachments in each post to see the picture attached to that post.

I rarely had a problem with access speed with this site and can see no difference in speed now. Then again, I have 160mb pipe and being 14 time zones away keeps me off peak too. But I can say now that archiving all the older posts has been a user disaster. Info may still be there but is a tedious chore to search and access it.

FWIW, the images in the archived posts appear to be working now. It was an issue with permissions and the images were there, but not being displayed because one cannot log-in. As I understand, this issue has been fixed. If you try to access an archived post now, be sure to hit "refresh" on your browser and any embedded images should display.
Best regards and clear skies,

Troops have been enlisted and have been assigned a daunting task by admin. They are methodically going trhu the "Best Of" thread whlie we sleep and they are editing every link to point to the appropriate location. between Best Of and Minireviews there are approximately 1000 broken links. It will take some time, but is on the path to recovery.
thank you

IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO EDIT ALL OLD LINKS.
Our super admin computer guru Mike from Astronomics has added a message to the "We cannot find that post...." that says you may find it at this link, with a LINK ARCHIVE click button, and that leads you directly to the archived page in question. So it is not necessary to edit any old links.
You will find, if you click on Best Of links that point to old (now archived) posts, all you have to do is press one more click and it takes you right to where you want to be.
