I made an observation of the Waning Gibbous Moon (18.8 days old) and the Pleiades (M45) using my Oberwerk 11 x 56 mm binoculars. The Moon and the Pleiades looked spectacular in the binocular field. I hope that others were able to view the event as well.

Lynn,
Thank you for the compliment on my Moon and Pleiades observation. The pair was very striking in the binocular field. I hope that your right wrist recovers. Have fun at the Texas Star Party.

Thanks Carlos. I should have made myself clearer. It is our local clubs star party. At Ft. McKavett. I will at the 2010 TSP. Lynn

Lynn,
Have fun at both star parties! I looked up your club's site (Fort McKavett, Texas) and that appears to be a very dark site for observing. May you have clear and steady skies.

Carlos,
Your binocular sketches of the moon are always a treat to behold. This one that includes the 7 sisters is right up there right up there with your very best. Great sketch. It makes up for the cold rain we are having this night.

Frank and Jay,
Thank you both for the kind compliments on my Moon and Pleiades observation. The pair was very impressive as I noted a good amount of detail over the Moon and faint stars over the Pleiades. I was mesmerized by both objects. I am glad that you both liked the observation. I hope that your weather improves soon in order for you to observe.
