make a GEM mount~~~~~
      #3381156 - 10/09/09 09:41 PM Attachment (20 downloads)

I am planning to make a GEM mount with those parts:
taped roller bearings,Byer worm gears, sidereal servo system.
it need extreme design cosideration for such a project.
1. Clutch system will use Byer type(on gear),although it is not the best clutch method(it hide inside housing and will be hard to adjust)
2. Because RA gear only have a 50mm hub, it will be placed on down side end of RA shaft, but Dec gear will be placed near the scope.
3. Counter weight shaft will be link only to Dec housing.
4. square body like ME(but casting tube body like AP should be better but expensive)
Please help with your advice about:
1.how to ensure perpendicularity between RA and Dec? I found it only depends on manufacturing precission for commercial mounts.
2.bearing mount design. it is difficult for square body than casting tube body.

thanks for any comment and suggestion!
