Awsome box clamps And cool cradle retaining rings. How do you balance the scope with the rings in the way?

A small scope that gets used often is a better investment than a big scope that stays in the closet.
Unitrons, you spend more time looking at them than you do through them.

Hi friends !
It has a Vixen 36,4 mm thread on the OAZ, but it's not a Vixen. This baby is a PRINZ 76,5/1250 mm refractor.
As you know PRINZ is another relabeled japanese import.
Prinz was specialy labeled for the UK and this scope has a circle "K" on the focuser ( Kenko / Kanko ) - it's from around 1967-1970. I had once a identical Yamatar 76,5/1250 .
This scope comes complete with wooden cabinet, mount, 3 EP's, wooden tripod, sun & moon filter, barlow, 2 diagonal prism, counterweight, sun projection shade etc.
I got it for a low price and it is technical absolutly okay, but needs some refurbish. The OTA has many paint chips, little dents and scratches, but thats no great problem.
The weak thing is again the mount. It's a nice mount but for sure for a 60 mm refractor better, than for this long 76/1250 !! Also the tripod.
Well, I will make a complete refurbishing and tuning with this scope. I will store the mount and tripod dry and clean, but for practical use I will buy a nice and stylish Vixen new Polaris. A fellow will make me a solid metal pedestal. If this combination complete, I can post more pics here, if you like.
Addition : this is the longest 3"/f16 I've ever seen, much longer than the Tasco 1oT or Towa 339, You all know, how far you have to pull out the drawtube of a Tasco 10T or Towa 339 to reach the focus ! Here is the OTA 95 cm long ( of course without the focuser ! ).
Kind regards from germany, Michael

Hi friends,
here are a few news : As you know by now it's a Prinz 76,2/1250 mm refractor. Xou can see on the focuser the circle"K" for Kenko. It's a very nice solid focuser with 36,4 mm Vixen thread.
I have now a classic-style russian TAL mount, thats much more stable than the original Kenko-mount. I use Orion 76 mm rings to attach the Prinz on it.
On the following photos you can see the baby still on the short pier, but this will change in the next days/weeks.
My plans for the future is to built a really classic style setup :
1.) a friend of me is making me a 120 cmm metal-pier 2.) I will chnage the TAL mount in the way I will add an brass wormwheel in RA 3.) I will add a "classic-style" guide/finderscope , perhaps a little vintage 40 or 50 mm refractor. 4.) before that all, I have to do many refurbishing because the OTA has many scratches, paint-chios and little dents
You see : a lot of work is waiting for me ( to clean the hole thing is the easiest job ).
If you like, I will post more pics if I'm ready with this project.
This will be my little nice "moon-watcher" for the future. First moon-observings were very satisfied : sharp contrasty views with nearly no CA !!
Kind regards Michael

That's gorgeous!
Be sure to keep all the parts you don't use, so when/if you sell it, it's intact.

Yes you're right Tim. But this one I will not sell, even if I get bigger vintage scopes in the future. I love this baby ! Don't ask me why...it's just nice !

Congratulations! I know you'll enjoy your scope.
I recently finished restoring a Sans & Streiffe 612 (Circle K)which looks very similar (see photo). Didn't know what to expect optically, but was pleased by the lack of CA and Epsilon Lyrae was beautiful site - four tiny headlights. The 1.25" Vixen visual back and new Japanese orthos work great and seem in character for this scope.
I tore down and regreased the original mount; it's smooth enough but not quite up to the job. So I mounted mine on a clock driven Stellarview M4 equatorial mount that handles the long tube much better.
Clear Skies, Vic
