Deck for ExploraDome
      #3384261 - 10/11/09 07:33 PM Attachment (37 downloads)

I have built a deck around my existing pier to carry an ExploraDome 8 foot building. I had to raise the pier approximately 6". I built the pier in 2003 and it has served me well carrying my Atlas mount.

John,
Congrats on a great looking deck. From the looks of it you should not have any water ingress from deck overhang as you mentioned in an earlier thread.

Keep us posted on your build, both here and the group.

Clear skies,

John,
That is a great looking observatory. Congrats, hope the skies are clear for you tonight. The Milky Way is clearly visible over my house.

Hi John
Nice job - great looking observatory!

Is that the power feed coming in at the bottom left?

It's a #12 extension cord coming in through a weatherproof box.

Hi John,
Ahh.., figured as much..,

You planning on burying it at some point?

Looks great, there. How are the dome walls fixed to the deck?

Regards,

Stacey

No, just unplug and roll up.

Fourteen 1/4" by 3" lag screws and a good bead of caulk.

Looks great John, for what it's worth, I do the same with my power cord.
