NGC6992 The Eastern Veil with a bunch of subs.
      #3384688 - 10/12/09 12:37 AM Attachment (22 downloads)

For the first time in a long, long while I actually have a backlog of data to process due to an excellent couple of weeks of decent skies which doesn't happen too often so I hunkered down and gave a few targets some serious time. Here's the first and one of my favorites. Hope you likes and thanks for looking.

Scope: Tak TOA-130 with flattener
Mount: Tak NJP guided
Camera: Self modded Canon XS
Exposures: 102X360sec ISO800
Processing: Iris, PS CS2, Noel's Astro tools, Noise Ninja

Here's a larger less compressed 1200x790 version

Thanks for all the nice comments. Processing was a bear with all the subs from multiple nights but in the end it was worth it. I'm glad I was able to put in the time.

That is a big stack of subs , looks like it really pays off in the level of detail.

The filaments throughout the nebula are very crisp , excellent image Tom.

Thanks for the kind words Jim, Erik and Hiro.

Erik, That's mostly the reason it's one of my favorites. The filaments seem to create a weave of sorts. Just cool looking.

Hi folks,

Been so busy with work and all that I haven't had the chance to get at the backlog of data. Can't seem to sit still for more than a half hour here and there so I did a little touch up on this one. Been meaning to fix the stars a bit since I thought they were too saturated the first time around. Just thought you might like to see the difference. Thanks for looking.
