What I found looked like a Yamamoto Production Company scope with 108mm lens.

Here is one in Vancouver - http://shop.vancouvertelescope.com/antiques.html

And a few CN links

Hank, congratulations on your purchase. I was also talking to him about it and he sent me alot of photo's. It appears to be in really good shape. We are traveling to Disney next week and I was going to pick it up while down there. I just couldn't justify his asking price right now though. I was going to email him today but saw the link was gone so I figured someone had purchased it. I hope you got it for a good price. It appears to be a Astro Optical/Carton model #608 and imported by R.V.R. Optical. I was able to find some info on it. See the link below. Scroll down to page #3. Let us know how it performs. Glad someone here got it.

Check out the price list from R.V.R Optical from 1977. If this is the same scope it sold for $1,300.00. Scroll to the bottom of the page under Carton.

Hi Hank and Welcome to Cloudy Nights!

Looks like you may have a real gem of a scope there!

I'm really interested in the legs. They look really solid. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of the bottom of the legs to see if they are adjustable or not.

Nice scope and good call James

A small scope that gets used often is a better investment than a big scope that stays in the closet.

Unitrons, you spend more time looking at them than you do through them.

Hii Hank, congratulations on acquiring a magnificent telescope. I have one of these and the focuser has the makers mark as the letters SYW engraved within a diamond outline. The model is engraved as AE106, 108mm f1600. James has given great links to previous threads. Regards Mark
