DSI woes...
      #338674 - 02/09/05 05:02 PM

Apologies if I am duplicating anything from Peppe but I am another baffled (and slightly miffed) DSI owner. I've spent the last day since it arrived messing around just trying to get to the basic "oh look there's an image" stage.

Point 1: you really do need do download and install the patch from meade.com that fixes several things. It's free, takes no more than a minute to do, just do it.

Point 2: my PC worked fine with the DSI, but when I tried my laptop, it all turned horrid.I've got a Thinkpad X21, Pentium II, 128Mb RAM, USB 1.1 and plenty of hard drive, which exceeds the minimum requirements Meade has stated. However in reality, once the program is started, it freezes on the first frame the ccd sees, and all the on-screen controls either slow or freeze - autoexposure won't work, etc etc etc, and I had to ctrl+alt+del to get out of the program.

I have contacted both Meade and my UK supplier re both points, and will update you all with any progress, but I fear it may be a cse of sending it back....

Summary -

1: if you're selling DSIs please tell your customers about the patch, and spread the word everyone else. I wasted 4 hours until I went to Meade's website for help.

2: see if you can trial use a DSI on your chosen computer before purchasing to make sure it will work.
