Atlas upgrade
      #3387624 - 10/13/09 05:19 PM Attachment (20 downloads)

After having my Atlas mount fall off the tripod and bend the lock down bolts, figured it was time for an upgrade. Many members have ADM products and after reading a review on their dual dovetail saddle, this looked like the way to go.

It is so much bigger and secures more of the dovetail bracket, besides having large lockdown knobs. Since it will take either a Vixen type bracket or Losmandy type, still allows for another upgrade. However it looks to be all I will need for my C6-R.

That looks great Bill. I didn't know that the ADM saddle could take both DT's, thats a great option. Do you know if the ADM saddle has the same 3" C to C spacing for the mounting screws as the Losmandy saddle?

Single Saddle:

Dual Saddle:

Under "Mount Type" pull down menu, you will see Losmandy.

I like it, I had an ATM 8" refractor fall off my Atlas.

It was my fault. I have a small pier and instead of locking it to the tripod I left it loose while tying to align with North. Luckily I was on grass and it just bent the lockdown bolts. I'm also glad it missed my foot. The ADM saddle is so nice and the much larger lockdown knobs and surface contact is a great improvement. Check the finish compared to the stock Atlas saddle.
