Jazzing up a Galileoscope?
      #3388586 - 10/14/09 04:46 AM

Now that sales are well under way, I'm guessing that new owners of Galileoscopes will be googling for help.

Can the good denizens here recommend links/techniques for getting the most out of a Galileoscope?

It starts (of course) with a mount (of some kind); a pre-existing camera tripod is the obvious choice, but what about (cheap!) home-made?

Do the people here have tips on assembly - mods for improved performance?

Easier focusing (this seems a common area of difficulty).

I'm guessing Joe Public would also be very interested in astrophotography (afocal, using a P&S).

Everyone wants their own photo of the moon, right?

After that, one might consider upgrades, eye pieces, but that would be secondary; I think DIY is more in the Ethos of the Galileoscope project.

There are extensive threads about this under the Cornerstone Projects topic near the top of the main index.

Ah yes - well not "threads", but a thread with a lot of posts.

Thanks for the pointer.
