Chinon Countryman help new
      #3390823 - 10/15/09 09:28 AM

Hi

Techy advice is not something i usually ask on the forum but i really cant seem to find much info about a pair of binoculars picked up at a charity shop recently by an astronomer friend
They are Chinon 10 x 40 wide angle roof prisms in green armour made in Japan
Optically and cosmetically very nice but one green rubber eyecup is slightly perished and the centre hinge needs a slight tighten so it holds the position when opened
Does anyone know of any source for eyecups at all please Also how to access the tightening of the centre spindle
There is a small bevelled cover cap on the centre hinge at the eyepiece end which i assume has the tightening access underneath
Not sure if this clips off or needs a special tool

All help or direction to help very much appreciated

Regards
RichT

Hi Rich ,

You'll need to remove that small cap to access the screw that tightens the spindle .

A VERY sharp knife ( and I mean razor blade sharp ) could be used to flick it open , VERY carefully , and it should just click back into place after .

Kenny
