If you want to go the free route then you can look at www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com. Both of these give an easy simple to use interface.

Freewebs is quite good for a basic site, or you could also consider Wordpress.

I'll second wordpress, nice interface once you get used to it and tons of templates.

With Wordpress you can't go wrong and it's free.

I even downloaded the server software and now I run my whole website from home. ( you don't need to do that of course ).

I also recommend wordpress, but with the caveat that you host it yourself rather than using the free hosting at wordpress.com. Otherwise your site can be taken down if wordpress decides you don't like something.

Host it yourself using the free wordpress software and you are safer.

Hello James,
First buy a domain through a well known domain seller like godaddy.com then either use their host for free or better to host yourself so you can locally edit or add content if you know how to host yourself in your computer.
You need a broadband connection and Windows XP (can host only one website)
