i went to telescopes.com to see if they had any deals and saw the Celestron SkyScout - Personal Planetarium was on sale. list price $617.95 sale price $189.00. didn't know the skyscout was so expensive. i guess someone made an error.

The list price is deceiving. It is available a many places for $179.00. Sorry for bursting your bubble. That is why I always shop around.

That's the list price. The SS has never sold for quite that much. And there have been a couple of price reductions. It went for about 400 for a while, but has been at the circa 200 dollar level for a couple of years.

oh, don't get me wrong. i knew it only sold for around 200. i thought it was funny how telescopes.com was trying to fool people in thinking they were getting such a good deal!

That mentality runs wild in retail. Bump the price and offer a good discount to make the sale.

If you use promo code DX-9292 you get an additional 15% discount bringing the price down to $160...Telescopes.Com has excellent pricing on most Astronomy items.
