Polar alignment new

Hi I have just purchased my first equatorial mount (been all alt/az prior to this) so of course it has been heavily overcast and I've not had a chance to play. My question is this: when looking through the polar scope of a HEQ5 Pro and using Jason Dales's "Polar Finder" software to assist with alignment do I use "show view through telescope option" to position Polaris or do I leave the box unchecked and use that view.

Go into the "Articles" section at andysshotglass.com and watch the entire video presentation on the Orion Atlas EQ-G GoTo mount. It provides an excellent tutorial on polar aligning an Orion GEM (any Orion GEM!). Clear Skies...BB

I use the 'through telescope' option, it shows what you see through the polar scope.

You can also use eqmod in combination with pc direct mode for polar alignment. Eqmod also has many other good features. Site is:
