Hermit: My initial question inquired about the reason for the target drifting across the imaging camera's FOV. Slight star trailing is a secondary issue that I suspect is related to the drift. No, my star trailing is a little less pronounced than your example: more just slightly egg-shaped stars. I do loop the camera wiring gently back to the mount, enough to allow the mount to rotate without binding. Thanks for posting the image.

Followup: I did a drift alignment, found I was slightly off, and corrected it. I did a few quick images with my 66ED and found little or no image drift, and improved star shape. I think now that flex with my rail-mounted C8 is the biggest culprit: the moment with the rail-mounted OTA, camera, guidescope and guide camera must be large, and is probably causing the rail to twist slightly. I think that mounting the OTA with rings would help here. Needs more experimenting. Thanks to everyone for your comments.
