Research Optical Co scope on C-list new

Is this scope worth getting? It certainly looks interesting. I love the streamlined eyepiece holder on top of the tube!

Wow, very bizarre way to store the eypieces. I guess for the 75 bucks, it's probably interesting for the collectible aspect alone. As JC used to say, that's wild and wacky stuff!

I have one of these.

It's essentially a spotting scope; there's an internal erecting prism. It has a 2" (50mm) objective; the eyepieces are .965".

Performance is, ummm, "OK".....as long as you don't expect too much.

The best feature of this scope is its most obvious....its WAAAAAY cool "retro" look.

Mine is a living room conversation piece. Every few months, I make a point of looking *through* it, too, just because....

Cheers,

Jim

Well, they were still doing 'research' on opticals.

I didn't mean to damn this scope with faint priase. Just don't expect Zeiss optics. It's well-made mechanically and functions well for what it is--a small spotting scope with typical eyepieces of the time.

And aesthetically, it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cool IMO. It's certainly worth the money, if you enjoy this kind of stuff!

Cheers,

Jim
