M33 Triangulum Galaxy
      #3395050 - 10/17/09 07:21 PM Attachment (41 downloads)

I took the following last night. After reading quite a bit on adding filters I used the Zhumell Skyglow filter that I have. While I recognize that this is less than ideal, it does appear to have made a difference.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Canon 40D Hap Griffin Modified
Orion ED80 with Zhumell Skyglow Filter
HEQ-5 Mount
Starshoot Autoguider, Orion ST-80
From Driveway, Georgetown TX

Exposure: 14x600s ISO 1600 (140 Minutes total)
Darks, Flats, Bias
Stacked in Images Plus, processed in PS

Hey that's a nice one, lots of detail in there.

Could you get 5 min subs without the filter from Georgetown?

Thanks Bardo, Matt & Erik.

Jeff, this is my first try with the filter. I have been taking 10 minute subs without a filter, but these are borderline overexposed. I have estimated the sky at my house at a magnitude of 6 using the camera method on Samir's site. I am sitting in the driveway right now and if I don't spend too much time staring at the computer, I can make out the milky way fairly clearly:)

It makes it all worthwhile when they come out like that!!
Excellent image and great processing on a tough object.
