I am on vacation trying to get a little venison for the freezer. I need to get up pretty early so thought I'd give the horsehead a shot. Thank goodness for autoguiders!! I woke up at 2am and framed the shot, set eos utility for 25 frames at 6.5 minutes each double checked everything and started the exposures. This is my best horsehead to date and I owe it to all that post here. Lots of good information. Skies here are very dark, Milky Way was glorious. I'm not real keen on the Halo around Alnitak and there is a little artifact to the upper right of the halo. I just processed it for what would be pleasing to my eye. Hope you like it.
25 x 6.5 minute lights, 6 darks, 7 flats, 6 bias. Canon eos XS (stock). Celestron C8 @ f/6.3 (focal reducer). Guidescope WO ZS66 SD, Starshoot Autoguider, Losmandy GM8 and of course Mr. Bahtinovs'mask!

I'm curious about the reflection that's just to the left of the horse head. Looks like the corrector; is that from the brightness of Alnitak?

Thanks all. Yeah, I really got lucky on the composition. All you can do with some of these are to know your FOV, know what stars and where they should line up and go from there. For the reflection just to the left of the horsehead, I never noticed that before but I see what you mean. If it is I don't know how to get rid of it other than getting rid of some of the mids. The halo around Alnitak really bugs me but it is what it is. Thanks agn. I'll keep tryin'
