What's the focal length of the scope it will be used with?

The DMK41 (or any other camera with the same size chip) will image the whole solar disk at 400mm focal length but not at 480mm. However you can screw one of the 1.25" x0.5 focal reducers into the adapter.

If you want to record images for computer processing as well as showing "live" on a TV screen, I'd reccomend using one of the DMK / Skynyx type cameras rather than a video camera. True you do need a computer to display the image rather than just a "dumb monitor" but actually capturing the image stream is much, much easier than messing around with a frame grabber (and the associated computer) as well.

In that case I'd reccomend the DMK31 with a 0.5x reducer - that will get the whole disk quite comfortably. Take the reducer off & add a barlow (3x or 4x for maximum effect) and you will be able to take active area / prominence images like the better ones on this forum. The higher frame rate of the DMK31 (30 fps as opposed to 15 fps of the DMK41) more than compensates for the lower resolution (1024 x 768 vs 1280 x 960).
