So, I didn't ever get around to buying the 15mm Panoptic pair new.  
Now, lets say I want to finally follow up and get a pair, what's the best way to go about it? Buy a matched pair, or individually?
Is there another good option besides the 15mm Panoptic in a similar price range? I'm thinking the 16mm Naglers are overkill.

The 15's are great. You do not need to get a matched pair. Just place a wanted ad in the eyepiece section of amart and you should get some offers. Thats what I did earlier this year. Although slightly more expensive, another option would be the Type 6 Nagler 13s.

Hi,
I had the 15mm Pans (bought both new) and they worked fine. The er of the 15's is a tad tight but I never found it to be a big issue for me. I did sell mine and now have a pair of Nagler 13 T6's that I find to be pretty nice (my favs are the 24mm Pans). Almost all of the pairs I bought (except the 15 pans) were either bought one at a time by myself or the person I bought a pair from and I never really noticed any pairing up issue.

It's a dilemma!
I could not locate 2 15Pans in a reasonable period of time, even after I placed a wanted ad on A-Mart. I had 2 responses. One person told me he could not bring himself to sell his, and the other wanted new price for used. I ended up buying 2 Nagler 16 T5's. I don't wear glasses for viewing, but if you need to, the Nagler 16's are not the right ep's. If you can get along without glasses, they're very fine. I can just see the edge of the fov for bino viewing.
On the other hand, if you can find a pair of Pan 15's or be patient to get one and then another, you'll have a great set.

I prefer the Nag 13 T6's to the 15mm Pans as the 13's have a little better er and of course the wider fov. Nag 16's were also mentioned above, and while excellent eps, as rookie states, they have a tight er (10mm compared to 12mm on the 13 T6's) that may make them too uncomfortable for eye-glass wearers.

From what I've heard, the Meade Eyepiece 5000 SWA 16mm are approaching (though not quite) the same league as the Pans . $99. ea

I don't think Televue is selling "matched" pair for binoviewer use? I know Denkmeier sells theirs saying "matched pair of" D21, D14 but I am not aware of Televue does that. I guess I just don't know. Unless eyepiece had design changes in different production run, I think it is OK to buy it individually. It must be within their quality tolerance. I have bought a few eyepieces (Pentax XW, Takahashi LE, Televue Plossl, Zeiss) individually for binoviewer. I don't have any issue so far.
I don't have Pano 15 but I do Pano 19. They are great eyepiece with binoviewer. I noticed though that I have reflection issue between eye lens and my eyes more than other eyepieces. It might be individual issue.

Keep leaving out the 15mm Celestron Axiom LX. 82 deg FOV better ER then the 16mm T/5 at 10mm and the 15mm Axiom at 13mm. Also the price!

Tammy, there is no issue at all with non-matched pairs of Televues. I spoke to Al about that when I was in the process of purchasing some Televues for use with my binos....

The thing I like about Televue is the support, not that I've ever used it. I looked into other eyepieces, and there is the Meade 16mm and Celestron 15mm Axiom, they would be good alternatives if I can't find a pan, which I think I'll be able to do.

I bought a pair of 15mm Pans (individually) off of AstroMart earlier this year. It took awhile (3 or 4 weeks, if I recall), but it wasn't too bad. They work nicely with a Barlow or OCS (which extends the eyerelief just a bit).

I have 19mm Pans in my Stellarvue BV3. The DSO views are stunning. Fortunately, I haven't had any reflection issues. They just work great.

FWIW, I tried the Meade 16mm 5000 SWA's last spring, and thought they were the worst designed EP's in my modest experience. The views were nice, but I found the bizarre eyecup with small viewing portal made it virtually impossible to see the available FOV. And if you twist-up the eyecup the FOV is decreased further (?)! That was my experience, but I remember at that same time a much more knowledgeable and qualified member also had serious issues with their design (suggest searching this forum for more info if you're seriously considering these).
I opted for Garrett 20mm SWA's instead (same as Agenas) and have been very happy. If you can't afford Pan's, they could be a nice low cost alternative; slim, light weight, $45 ea., and available in 15mm. Good luck!
