Love the detail in the dust lane and the colors show well in the galaxy and the stars , couple of other fuzzies in there even

This image has very nice depth, and the color is good too. The only thing I would say by way of constructive criticism is that some of the larger stars look irregular, which may indicate a problem with your guiding for the 6 min subs. Maybe take down the subs to a shorter time or try to determine what is causing the guiding error?

Your right, I hadn't noticed that.
It seems to be going two ways which leads me to think it was the seeing, but I don't really know.
I just hypertuned the mount, and am waiting for a clear night to run pempro and see what the PEC and backlash are like, hopfully as good as Eric's and David's.

The atlas can be a pain to fine tune. I dont know how many times I have disassembled mine tweaking things out. I have noticed one thing tho. I use PHD to guide, and if you set the calibration ms up to high you will get more errors. I have found I get the best results with my scope (1200mm FL) when I calibrate with 520 - 560 ms steps. Getting the gear meshes tight is important as well (not to tight). I have noticed big improvements by tightening up the motor gear to the idle gear, and the worm to the main gears. I have totally regreased my mount with Super Lube, cleaned it up, and replaced the worm gear bearings with 7 ball ceramic bearings. I plan to replace those with 9 ball ceramic bearings. The altas is a nice mount. I am getting very decent tracking up to 5 minutes with close to 40lbs just in the OTA assembly. (In PHD I also set the min motion really low as well. I think the default is .15, I usually go with .02 or .03)

I use a 590mm scope to guide with so mine is a little larger, I was using a new beta version,I may go back to a released version.

It sure sounds terrible when it stalls.

What is the idle gear?

Image looks great! I've never worked this target, but it just seems a tad red..

Maybe increase the RA aggressiveness?
