I just recently reprocessed M27 with some new techniques and I was blown away by the before and after. (thanks to antimorris' thread and Erik's post)
Anyway this image was taken when I first got my scope, 1 month ago, on my first night out. I had taken 10 exposures of M27.. being new I still didn't have a good polar alignment and I didn't yet have auto guiding, so only TWO images were worthy of stacking.
Those two 30sec exposures resulted in this image, which I'm very surprised and happy about, considering how much light pollution there was and the bad tracking.

Looks like you have a fine start , the learning curve is tough in the beginning but its worth all the time and it pays off.
