Lunt 152 announced
      #3399342 - 10/20/09 12:25 AM

Hi all,
Lunt has announced the Lunt 152 H-a refractor (see vendor announcements). Looks very promising, and presumably much easier to construct than the poor old LS200. Has anyone seen a demo version anywhere?

mine is already on order. Haven't seen a demo but plan on checking it out on my trip to LUNTs open house the second week in November. Hope you all can make it too.
I am scheduled for a lecture in some cool Solar stuff. Should be fun

On the one hand, this is very cool....interesting, at least. On the other hand, all of their equipment is backorder, some folks waiting a good deal of time for their scopes. Far better news would be that they are now selling their line of scopes off the shelf.

....my 2 cents.

I also had the thought that with a new scope to the lineup, they'll be concentrating on that, rather than filling back orders on the LS60THa line in it's various configurations.
I checked optcorp.com last night as an example, most of the LS60THa configurations are "pre-order" or "back-order".

Perhaps it's a matter of profit margin for Lunt.

Hi All,
The LS152THa has a different size etalon than any of our other scopes in production. We will not be delaying delivery of our other products for this scope. We are excited about having a new large aperture scope but understand the LS60THa and LS60T50DS are still and probably always be our most popular scopes.
Thank you,

Rikki, What size is the etalon? And what is the spacer configuration?

Hi Colin,
Hope your doing well. The etalon is a clear aperture 60mm etalon. The spacers are only along the outside. None are in the 60mm.

tempting.. but the weight of the scopes (27lbs) still makes it require a heavy mount. A 5" version would be light enough to require less beefier mounts...
Still, the cost is reasonable..

I'd love one, but in the UK you might aswell double the price and replace the $ with a £...

Yes, ironically something Andy and Rikki found out at PATS this year.
The scope was displayed at their booth and it was beautiful!
They were going to demo it Sunday morning but Andy said the mount they had was shaking so much it was not worth it at that point to risk a disaster.
Shame. I was salivating all day Saturday dreaming of the views through this beast!

Guess who is one of the unlucky ones, me. I have had my 60DS on order since 7-3-2008. I know of people who ordered in May. The bad part, is I had a friend order one at RTMC, this year from Lunt and received it in Sept. This is a DS 60 with pressure tuner.

So the LS152 was at PATS yet no one posted any images of it or mentioned it until now?

If you want "wow" views of hydrogen alpha, all you need is 5"... you don't need anything larger. Corresponding views of what you like in white light on the sun, or even a normal telescope looking at the moon, will give you an idea of the image size and type of detail that can be seen in h-alpha.
Now, if you want more detail, then yes, higher aperture makes sense... The weight of this telescopes is what concerns me. Wonder if they could put this design in a CAT. That would make it compact and lightweight. Yes, you'd have the central obstruction, and there would be design considerations...

I'm curious to know if, removing the H-Alpha module you can observe the planets or deep sky
