My new 10te is 570327. For another number to record, there is one for sale on Astromart right now. It has serial number 970427 (which is quite close to Mike's #970311). It has square wood legs on the tripod.

Here are my two 7te5 serial numbers.

761356

961793 (edited)

I have edited this post. I had used the registration number on the case and not the serial number on the scope. I had put 57500 and realized that was the same number as Beth in Arkansas gave for hers. I had wondered how Preston knew it was a 7te5 by the serial number only! Now I know it wasn't a serial number! It's OK Preston... You still da man!

It seems the 10te scopes listed here (aside from a few anomalies, southern hemisphere what ev ) have 7-0, 7-1, 7-2, as the second and third digits in the serial number.
Of the 7te5 scopes listed, 60 - 62 are in the second and third numbers in the serial sequence. Do these numbers correspond to a likely date of manufacture?

I thought I had already contributed to this accumulation of Tasco/Royal Astro numbers. My 7te-5 has 861347 on the focuser plate. The wooden box has the styrofoam dividers and a l964 date on the manual.
Clear skies all. It's raining now here, but that will put the forest fires out so It will be clearer when the clouds go away.

Hey Darrell,
The Royal Astro I have is 90mm 1400mm, 990141. If you contact J. Siple or look for the Sears 90mm thread, there is a listing of all the Royal Astro Optical numbers for the Sears 90mm. Don't know if you want anything other than the Tascos. Rich

My 10TE did not come with a label (too bad).

So My.....

10TE = ???

7TE = #862700

15TEA = #670161 (this is the rare pier mounted model)

And I have a focuser from a 7TE with #962159 on the label.

Cheers

Sorry, I'm real late for this discussion. If anyone is still watching my serial numbers:

15TE = 771201
10TE = 271201
7TE-5 = 760986
Sears = 872399

The differences between the 10TE and 15TE is more than just the motor. The 15TE's tripod legs are significantly beefier, the clamps are one piece casts as opposed to the 10TE's stamped steel, and the center tray is about 50% larger.
