It has serial number 970427 (which is quite close to Mike's #970311). It has square wood legs on the tripod. I had used the registration number on the case and not the serial number on the scope. I had put 57500 and realized that was the same number as Beth in Arkansas gave for hers. I had wondered how Preston knew it was a 7te5 by the serial number only! Now I know it wasn't a serial number! It's OK Preston... Of the 7te5 scopes listed, 60 - 62 are in the second and third numbers in the serial sequence. Do these numbers correspond to a likely date of manufacture? My 7te-5 has 861347 on the focuser plate. The wooden box has the styrofoam dividers and a l964 date on the manual. Clear skies all. If anyone is still watching my serial numbers: 15TE = 771201 10TE = 271201 7TE-5 = 760986 Sears = 872399 The differences between the 10TE and 15TE is more than just the motor.
