M33 with too much noise new
      #3397870 - 10/19/09 11:58 AM

Hi folks,

Last night I imaged M33 from my backyard. I used my AT8RC with a WO 0.8x reducer/flattener, guided by Orion SAG on Borg 45ED, all on Orion Sirius. Took 47 90-sec shots and 3 darks. Using DeepSkyStacker and Photoshop for processing. All my attempts are too noisy.

Can someone please take a look at the file and tell me if it's salvageable. THANKS!!!

It seems to me you would need more darks. I shoot a minimum of 16 if I don't have anything suitable in my library (where I maintain 40 frames of various ISO/exposure/temp combos).

Thanks Gary.
Presuming same temperature, I can take darks anytime with just a lenscap over the camera, no scope. Correct?

That's true, however if you shoot darks in the daytime make sure you cover the camera viewfinder with either the supplied cover or black electrical or duct tape. I shoot my darks the following morning with the temp within 5-10 degrees of the previous nights imaging.

Ya darks are anytime with similar temp as long as the camera is dark.

I think 30 darks are minimum and 40 or more if you can and that should make a huge difference.
