Heart and Soul Mosaic, minus a bit....
      #3401596 - 10/21/09 06:00 AM Attachment (12 downloads)

Hi Folks. I'm working on this mosaic I started last weekend for the contest this month. I have four panels shot, but none of them with the time I want to get. Weather has been the biggest issue...unless I'm at work and then the weather is perfect. The two "non-target" panels only have 10 minutes each of exposure, with the Soul having 1hr10min and the Heart having 1hr40min. I took 3 minute subs of the targets and 60 second subs of the surrounds before the clouds hit. I manually put the shots together in Photoshop, and blended the different exposures, but as I'm hoping on adding more exposure time, I'm not gonna put any more effort in on this yet.

And I'll note I was way off target on that bottom right panel...that's the missed bit.

Comments and feedback welcome....

Very nice Nick, even with the "smokestack" in the FOV. Expertly processed as usual.

Very nice. The chimney makes it interesting. Do you plan to replace that in the mosaic?

Really nice!!!!
The processing is wonderful,like mentioned.
If you dont get a chance,or do not have the time, to fill in the "smokestack"..maybe you could just clone stamp to fill that in...it will be a bit tougher than cleaning up an image with some dust motes...but might be possible..
Well,let me try..LOL..
Okay,yep..it looks,aright.
Simple clone stamp to fill in the "stack".Then a simple LP reduction action since the BG looked a little uneven(from the seems I guess). Then a quick levels adjustment.
Hope you dont mind.Havent been able to image for myself in a LONG while...lol.

Thank you. Yes, I am hoping to fill in the smokestack.

Nice Brent! I don't mind at all. You did wonders. When I saw my version today it looked super dark. I might just have to enter your version!

Next time you do astroimaging go far away from factories!

Good mosaic indeed!! You don't need so much exposure time to fill this gap as in the nebula frames. Anyway, as you said, I think the nebulas do need a bit more exposure to look sharper.

Great job nick, I suppose there's no point in me even submitting mine this month now. Hah.

Was this with the Celestron 9.25"?
