After a month of clouds, we finally got a clear night that stayed that way and I was able to get out with my new AT8RC. After some collimation issues (it really is fussy and shows if it's just a hair off) and some guiding issues (still trying to get on my feet there), I was able to get 13 minutes of subs on the Perseus Double Cluster:

Hey Tony,
Congrats on the AT8RC! A very popular scope right now.
Looks like your guiding was ok to me. You've clipped the black point (left hand side of the histogram) which is probably why the background looks a bit dark.
I usually go 30 x 2 minutes on clusters. I've found it works well with my setup (66mm APO), but maybe with your 'lightbucket' , you could go even shorter if the stars are saturating. In any case, more subs would probably be better.
If you don't know or don't already have them, Noel Carboni's Astronomy Tools action set, is one of the best things I have invested in yet ($20) and helped me from the minute I got them.

Well, you don't see my guiding problems cause I culled the bad images I was having problems with PHD (SSAG) running away after about five minutes. I really think I've got an overabundance of dec. slop. I need to read up on PHD to see what the numbers in the status bar actually mean...

Did a little image tweaking. The earlier one I was processing at 2am and was a little bleary-eyed. I think this one looks much better.

Both are very nice, with good star colors.

You will need to take flats because I got vignetting. But there is very good data in there. Congrats!
