Took this one this morning with the AP180EDT at F/6.9 (AP
.75X reducer) and a modded Canon XS at ISO1600. Used a
Lumicon Deek Sky filter as well. 6x8 minutes exposures.
At the top of the frame, just right of center (North is up
in this image), there is an elongated dash, which is the
asteroid Fortuna, listed at a visual magnitude of 10.6.
I checked this with the minor planet checker.

Nice details in this picture! I assume you've cropped it quite abit as I refer the size to my 8" SCT with a reducer which would give a size of your thumbnail for this nebula. Anyways very nice shot and the asteroid Fortuna is good detail too!

I cropped it at 100% resolution. The focal length of the 8" SCT with a F/6.3 reducer would be very close to what I get with the AP180 at F/6.9.
Thanks, Tom

Thanks Bruno. I've tried this before without a filter, and really think the filter brings out the filaments much more clearly. Judging by the histogram, I think I can about double the exposure time and not have a background problem. I hope to try that later on.
