Pleiades as LM new
      #3403357 - 10/21/09 11:16 PM

I was out observing tonight with my 2 x 80 binoculars. The Pleiades was rising above some trees in the east.

Has anyone noticed how much the Pleiades looks like an Apollo era LM (ascent and descent stage, together). The row of stars on the right even resembles like the ladder the astronauts used to reach the lunar surface.

The Pleiades is a beautiful sight in the 2 x 80s.

I have never noticed that, Walter. I'll have to try to look at them that way.

Thanks to the CN member for the PM about my typo. The binoculars are 20 x 80, not 2 x 80.

The Pleiades filled the entire FOV and with it rising above the horizon, the impression looked beautiful.
