I saw a opost somewhere about this extension but cant seem to find it anywhere so im posting here. Where can the extensions for the remote be had from?

Or, you could make one yourself using a Cat5 cable connector and a 6 wire telephone cable. I 'roll my own' cables since I prefer non coiled assemblies. Just make sure that the cables you use / make are wired straight through, no cross-overs.

For my CGE I'm using an straight standard 7m long 6 wire (6P6C) telephone cable. It cost me about 3€ in Mediamarkt.
It is very easy to find in almost any electrodomestic shop.
I roll the cable along one of the tripod legs, and unroll as much as need it

I am using the extension that scopestuff sells and it is great addition to the CGEM. Celestron made the handcontroller wire way to short.

It's been said a few times already but make sure that you are getting straight through cables and connectors. Don't use a cable or connector made for telephone use. Unfortunately just about everything on the market is wired as a crossover for telephone use, so if it doesn't specifically state straight though wiring it likely isn't.
Of course the other trick is to get both a cable and a connector that are both wired as a crossover, that way they will cancel each other out and act as one straight through connection.

Well... there are cross-overs and there are cross-overs... depending on what type of electronic device the cable was originally designed for... :-) As Mark said, bottom line, whatever extension you use/make, make sure it's straight through. I would not recommend using cross-over cable with cross-over connectors, specifically if they were intended for different applications (network, telecom...) Network cables are crossed-over in pairs, not individually. Even if the signals do eventually come out correctly, this just adds another factor that may cause problems later... If you're not sure about what wires will work, I'd recommend going with a pre-fab, pre-tested solution such as the ScopeStuff offering. At least you won't take the chance of damaging your HC or mount. Good luck.

I've just opened a 14ft 6 pin cable assembly I had in my parts box and it is a cross-over type. So, Mark is right on the money, don't try and use an off the shelf telephone type cable without cutting one end off and crimping a new 6 pin plug to reverse the wiring. Any cable you use must be straight through. Thanks for catching this.....

I am using the Scopestuff cable and it does a fine job. I like the extra cable so I can take the handpaddle over to my observing list and punch the numbers while I have the list in front of me.
