It was a Zeiss Jena, refractor, possibly a 4 inch, but it had the white and blue equatorial mount with the fairly stout wood legs and orange knobs, and the tube was white in color, and she had 3 photos of it, along with those great setting circles. I called when "Dennis" was driving away with it. It listed at 12:43 Pm local time, and I called at 2:45 PM. I gave a groan out when she told me that, and she asked if it was worth a lot of money, and I told her. Of course she was skeptical, but said she purchased it cheap while she was in EAST BERLIN in the '80s. I missed it by inches. It looked to be nearly pristine condition from the photos. The ad indicated that it was missing one of the eyepieces. Gosh, I hope someone here got it. I want to see more photos. That was the buy of the year for someone!

Brian, I just looked on Astromart. It was the Zeiss telementor 2 or larger instrument. The refractor tube reduced in size towards the focuser, so I believe it must have been 80mm or larger. I was stunned when I saw it, and my fingers were on fire as I was dialing. I should have got on about 2 hours earlier and it would have been sitting in my house. Oh well, you win some and lose some. Someone got the most smoking deal of all time, no doubt.

Does anyone know who Dennis might be? He lives close by, because she is about 20 minutes away from me, and I live in Colorado Springs. It was gone 2 hours after the ad was posted. I'm really wanting to see photos. Hopefully, whomever Dennis is, he's an astromart member. I'm still having flashbacks of missing that one. That was literally a once in a lifetime chance around here.. Someone is going to have a great Christmas and bragging rights for some time to come.!

Hey John, I hope the photos show up here. I should have downloaded the photos after I called her, but I had a headache and my mind was a blur. By the time I came out of my fog, the link had already been taken down from Craigslist. Maybe it was all just a bad dream, breathing in too much sawdust made me hallucinate. I know what I can do, I can put another wanted ad on Craislist offering double the money for the telescope.. Yeah, that's the ticket!! Hey, have a great night.
Rich

Hi John, I didn't see anything at all from you. I had a response from someone named Clark, but I just checked my box, and there wasn't anything from you. How long ago did you send a mail? Maybe it takes some time to get there? Anyway, I'll get back with you sometime before tomorrow and we can discuss it. Thanks a bunch, Rich

Someone here has one of this with the white (porcelain) handles?
Now Preston, you're the resident expert on the 7TE are you not. How are the views through this 1950'ish unit?

An interesting telescope on the Detroit Metro Craigslist, supposedly made by an astronomy professor. The ad was posted on October 22nd and the link to the website is found through:
http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/for/1432347822.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
There is quite a variety of other items listed in the ad. (However, I think that I will pass on the 'boxed medical human skeleton.')

Hands off!! I want that skeleton! Halloween is coming up. Actually, some of you know in my other life I am a chiropactor. Just when I stared Chiropractic College (1975), Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of India banned the sale of skeletons. India was the only 'legitimate' world source, from the untouchable class. Literally in less than two weeks the suppliers shelves were almost empty, and prices went way up. This stimulated the manufacture of high quality plastic skeletons that are so good professional schools no longer use real skeletons much. Those are left for Goths.
Current value, depending on condition: $2,000. Plastic skeleton: $300-500
Although if I parted it out...
Creepy store where Goths shop
