Waiting for a Canon Rebel T1i
      #3408963 - 10/24/09 09:19 PM

Just ordered this camera about 3 days ago. I have an 18" f4.5 newtonian that I am going to slightly modify so I can prime focus the camera on it. I was playing around with the field of view indicators on The Sky 6. They had a canon 20D in the detector menu. When I selected it it pretty much gave me the exact field of view of a 13mm ethos. I guess I will find out soon enough if this is right. The camera has more megapixels than the 20D but I think the chip is the same physical size. I have high hopes for this combination of resolution and aperture.

Yea, I mean if you are guiding that 18" I cant wait to see what you produce... That is some serious light gathering power.

I see you own some Denkmeier gear. If you want to avoid modifying your Newtonian, you could use a Denkmeier OCS (relay lens) to reach focus with your DSLR instead.

Thanks for that hint, I would not have thought of that.

I just love the Canon Rebel and I have and still use the first one they ever made some years ago. I like it better than my Canon D20a and much much more than my Canon D5... although I guess both of these cameras are a little dated by todays standards... anyway... the ancient Rebel is what I always seem to grab... for regular or astro photography... who needs 10 billion pixels anyway...
