Eyepiece projection focus considerations?
      #3409618 - 10/25/09 10:13 AM

I'm looking at adding/upgrading my eyepieces for use both for live viewing and for eyepiece projection astrophotography with my DSLR. I already have an old Orion eyepiece holder/adapter, and am eying a few used eyepieces for solar system objects (currently a University Optics 18mm orthoscopic and an Orion 10mm Ultrasopic.)

Obviously I want eyepieces that will physically fit O.D. wise into my eyepiece adapter, of course. My question is are there any caveats or gotchas, etc. when considering eyepiece selection for well-focused projection to DSLR? Is eye relief a major issue or eyepiece length. or are there any eyepiece designs that don't like focusing to a DSLR imager, etc.?

TIA for any help!

G.
