webcam question
      #3410236 - 10/25/09 03:31 PM

Webcams are generally used for lunar/planetary whereas CCDs and DSLRs are generally used for deep sky.

However... some of todays webcams allow up to 1 hour exposures, and more realistically noise at the 3 to 6 minute subexposure level looks reasonable to me. Has anyone used such a camera (such as the larger chip Imaging Source... DMK... or DBK webcams)for deep sky images?

I'm going to give it a try tonight with my DMK41 camera... there is a little bit more noise than I expected but I think it should work on brighter deep sky objects...
