This is my Peltier cooled CGE 14, with a homemade dew shield, and Moonlight focuser. This was a shot from today while I was doing an indoor test. This is my planet imaging setup with the Flea 3 cam. Ignore the dew shield, while it works outstanding im in the process of completing the outside appearance.

Thanks,
Mitchell

Hi Michael,
Nice set up there..,

Nice-looking location too. You property?

Its not my place, its a site that NOVAC has full access to. Its a really nice spot with good horizons. I myself don't actually own a property yet, i rent an apartment, with no view of anything except the immediate area around polaris.

Here's my first Cassegrain... an iOptron 150mm MAK. This thing is tank like in it's construction. I'm very pleased with it so far. I've only had it out once but the views are very similar to my 5 inch achro, just brighter. It certainly rides on the SkyView Pro a bit better though.

Hi Konihlav,

Is that an 11" EdgeHD on your G11? If so, does it work well for AP at f/10 on the G11 or are you using a reducer?
Thanks,

Hey Pavel...after seeing your setup, I'm doubly impressed by your imaging. It's tough getting quality images with a permanent setup.

David

Up until two months ago it had been my goto companion since 1987. I saved for two years throwing papers before I bought it at age 13.

The new Meade 12" just died on me a couple nights ago. I guess they don't make 'em like they used to. Of course my 2080 GEM is manual though.

I have little hope now that the M12 will be something I can hand down to my son.

Mark

nemo129: yes it is. I am using it for AP at F/10, but with FF ccd (36x24mm) and using software focal reducer - I do bin 2x2 which results in F/5 sacrificing only FOV and final resolution (still 2000px wide image). My image scale is 1.32" and thanks to bad to worse seeing I am able to guide it out with piggyback even on untuned losmandy G-11 (will tune, maybe, maybe not, stress guiding seems to work).

Due to some minor problems with my new FF CCD that needs to be fixed I postponed imaging on this setup for later and now I use different beast

David Pavlich: thank you!

My current imaging rig. The Obsession sits in the background, which keeps me busy while the laptop clicks off a series of subs at night.

Probably the last photo of this particular configuration as the DSLR is being sent back to daytime duty and relief is on the way in the form of an OSC CCD.

Here's my Craigslist special that I acquired a couple of weeks ago - an early 80s Meade 2080.

This poor telescope had been neglected for years and was covered in cobwebs and dirt. Being someone who's always loved space and the stars, I feel very fortunate to have been given the chance to return this scope to service and find my way around the night sky. So far, I've enjoyed some incredibly sharp views of the moon and Saturn (I could even make out some of Saturn's moons). Now I just need a few more eyepieces other than the 18mm that came with it.

Here's mine. I found her on Craigslist for $460, but had to drive 400 miles to bring her home. I cleaned her (filthy!) primary mirror and both sides of the corrector with collodion, then went after the rest of her with a damp sponge and Q-Tips, and finished up with Armor-All on the legs and car wax on the tube. I also greased many of the threads with Permatex Anti-Seize to discourage galvanic corrosion.

It took hours, but she's worth it.
