Tough to post anything after that but here is an older basic C9.25 that works for me.

Interesting look on your Super C8+. What were the mods you did to it? Looks like the tube is painted. Anything else?

It's 3M Vinyl Wrap applied with 3M #77 adhesive spray.

Typically used on cars rather than a new paint job which is twice as expensive and requires a pro with experience.

There's a '9.25 mod' thread somewhere...got it-

Here's my 1st Cat. Nothing special but I've dreamed of one of these since I first laid my eyes on an orange tube back in the early 80's when I was a kid..

Here is a picture of one of my Cats - a Cerevolo 8" F5 MakNewt. It is a custom size and focal ratio as subsequent ones were 8.5" and F6.

skybsd,
Funny thing about the link you posted for the review on the AT Voyager. The Voyager in my picture is the one that the review was done on. I purchased it earlier this year from Jason Blaschka. The mount is great. Smooth-easy operation. While I feel the C8 is about the max of what it can handle comfortably it's going to have to do for the foreseeable future.

Regards,
Jerry

I love those compact scopes: my two cats (my new Intes MK67 and my old TAL 200K) side by side with a compact APO (Megrez 88FD). For those interested in a fine piece of Russian optics: a local (Netherlands based) shop still has new Intes MK67's on stock and sells them for a very attractive price (far below the original retail-price).

Wow, still a good look. Is it a flat-black wrap? I really like the flat black look of it and the whole system looks so clean. Did you paint it all? I have the same unit and it isn't nearly clean.

Also, how do you like the wrap? When you put it on, did you leave the optics in place or just seal it up?

I know, a lot of questions.

My rare "green tube" 5.5" Comet Catcher (Celestron) marketed by Astronomy Magazine in the mid-80's ... called the "Star 140". It's mounted on the original Vixen Polaris mount with adjustable wooden legs, polar alignment scope and R.A. drive. It makes a great "grab-n-go" combination.

When not in the observatory, my C9.25 lives with my Frac's.

Rod Mollise- "Very Sexy!"

Just roll it like a cigarette and use that thread for reference.

Also, get enough for a couple of wraps.
If you make mistakes-
1. remove initial wrap
2. apply adhesive remover to OTA - GOOF OFF or GOO BE GONE
3. dry surface with alcohol and water

Try it again...no harm, no foul.
DG
