I've seen a few dew shields made by others using a sonotube. A well written guide here: http://www.cloudynights.com/item.php?item_id=353

Mine is approx. 14" long (total) and I left about 2" extra to cover the Kendrick SCT heater strip (somewhat visible in blue there). I felt this would help insulate the heat produced. I didn't like using plastic stoppers on the inside (in 3 points) to keep it stable. Instead, the dovetail cut-out is firm fitting (measure twice, cut once and sand a few dozen times haha). I also added 3 thumb screws around the tube to help it remain level/stable. The inside is also covered with a craft foam (flat black), which Emerson makes (another good WalMart value find). You'll likely notice the blue rubber band around the front... I wasn't sure how well the folded edges of the foam would hold up to the cold temps, so to prevent lifting I thought I little pressure was helpful.

All materials, paint/adhesive, screws, etc. total was about $22 CDN.

Cheers,

Heitman, Nice set up! It's hard to beat a good C8.
I'm jealous of those deep blue skies!
I bet it was an excellent night.

Steve

It's breezy today, and the seeing isn't so good right now, but as you can see, it's very clear. I really like the C8 setup, very easy to manage.

I saw an ad in S&T some years ago and ordered the chair. I know the company was located in Florida, but I can't remember the name right now. The chair is kind of heavy. The frame is steel, and yes, the back is padded. It's a nice chair. I only saw the ad for these chairs for a short period of time, so I don't know what happened to them.

I'll look tomorrow and see if I can find it. I think I still have the papers that came with it. It even has a swivel clipboard that attaches to the side.

Brian,
The chair was made by "Atinatech". I think they no longer exist.I still have the instruction manual, and I tried to find them on the web, but no luck.
