Can a 350D be automated? new
      #3408897 - 10/24/09 08:33 PM

Hey guys,
I just found an old Rebel XT/350D lying around that I never got around to modding since I went ahead with an XS purchase..
BUT,I wouldnt mind getting it working and using it for some AP..
So,my question is:
Using Maxim, can the 350D be automated with just the USB2 port? I remember some people here talking about using a ShoeString IR remote cord that plugs into the USB that starts and stops the exposures..
I have way too many cables as it is..so if I HAVE to use a remote I will probably just sell it since I do have the XS and an XSi on the way(and maybe even a T1i!! )..

Thanks for any help!

You'll need another cable to control exposures of over 30".

So,with this extra cable, which I imagine is what starts/stops the exposure,is all that is needed(along with the USB connection) for SW like Maxim to control the cam?

Thanks for the input guys!!!
I appreciate it!

CS: yep, you are correct. I use a 350D with a home-made one of those cables and Nebulosity as my software, works very well!
