Lumicon Sky Vector I
      #3411235 - 10/26/09 03:12 AM

I am considering purchasing this device for my C8. The item description on the Lumicon website mentions a 210-object database but doesn't elaborate what is in the database other than the Messier catalog. Can anyone tell me what else is in the database? Would it be worth the extra $150 or so to get the NGC Sky Vector with its numerous additional capabilities? Thanks, Allan

Before you buy anything, take a look at the Sky Commander DSCs. They are reasonably priced VERY accurate, and all they require is an alignment on two stars. No tube levelling, no warp factors or other foolishness to worry about.

Thanks! Looking at their website, I notice a difference between the Sky Commander vs. the Sky Vector in that the Vector has different versions for specific scope brands and models (i.e., "Early Celestron" vs. "Celestar 8", etc.) while the Sky Commander seems to be one size fits all (except for Dobs). Is that an issue at all? Thanks again, Allan
