I'm with Gary. I shot this last season and would up with an overly purple galaxy- I'll re-shoot it when my new flattner arrives. You've got a very natural looking galaxy and background. You're making that Orion look really good. Good depth into the core without overdoing the arms.

Thanks Andre and Adam S,
Adam S I'd like to take the credit but it's more like the Orion making me look good. Can't beat good data

I've had several Mak-Newtonians. They are one of the best kept secrets in telescope designs. All spherical surfaces (easy to figure well), excellent control of off-axis abberations, and essentially no color.
When Orion first came out with the scope, the secondary was too small for illuminating an APS size chip. A friend of mine had one, and it had an issue. Now that they have modified it with the larger secondary, the results seem to show it is ready for prime time.

Bob, I got a Mak Newt earlier this year and have had only a handful of sessions to try it for imaging due to lousy skies and a family illness. I agree it is super and here's a little widefield of M27 shot near a bright moon last night. Your M33 is super, about as good as it gets. http://www.astrophotogallery.org/showphoto.php/photo/4270 Paul

They sure are a well kept secret Tom. There isn't a heck of a lot of info about Mak-Newtonians out there. The Orion scope specs fit exactly what I was looking for so I decided to go for it, glad I did.

That's a great image Paul. Pin point stars and uniform to the edge...gotta love it!

Thanks, the only problem with the scope is that it came with 7 months of clouds. Otherwise, it does beautifully in my garage. LOL. You cannot imagine how much I want a clear moonless night to go after the Rosette and the Christmas Tree Nebulae with this toy. It seems to be idiot proof, and believe me, if anyone can mess up a picture, it is me.
