I was just perusing their site, and found this interesting announcement:
New mount from Planewave Instruments
Wow.
If this is old news, keep on walking, but otherwise....

Hi Eric,
I saw one close up personal at PATS. It was the most beautiful mount at the show IMHO.
Here is a few photos from PATS: http://www.pbase.com/tammyhomma/image/117664345/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/tammyhomma/image/117664287/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/tammyhomma/image/117664210/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/tammyhomma/image/117664208/original.jpg

Looks to be Kevin Iotta's...(I know I butchered the last name) work. It looks identical to his GEM's. Same specs IIRC.

I've seen that mount at OPTCORP show few months ago. The mount is made by one man machine shop. The Plainwave just put its logo on it.

That's how they came out with this mount so quickly! Thanks for the info, Chris!

For that price, I'd rather have an ASA DDM85.

It's a fair bit pricier than the Iott Mounts isn't it?

Do they take checks? Might have to hold it 'til Friday to make sure it clears....

Seriously though, how many amateur astronomers are out there who have a quarter million dollar rig like that (figuring cameras and accessories/Obs on top of that bundle)? That would pay for a really big house in a majority of states. The target audience has got to be research schools or professionals with something like that, or Bill Gates..

A 700mm CDK with two Nasmyth foci, zero backlash or PEC? Yeah, at $185k, I doubt many amateurs will be buying. Then again, I doubt PlaneWave would expect them to.
I'll run it by my wife and see what reaction I get.

Just tell her it's "portable" and won't take up much space and you won't ever have to upgrade your mount again. LOL
