Erik, Thanks for the comments. I'll try to make sure I have some flats next. Not guaranteed, but I'll try. The vignetting is caused I think by the adapter I'm using with the focal reducer/field flattener. Steve

I actually stoped using them because I was getting weird issues from them so I just use GradientX and make sure my sensor is clean each time I go out.

Erik, I have photoshop 5.5. Is that compatible with GradientX? Thanks for letting me know. Steve

You really should avoid using GradientX for this correction. Flats require a division operation to cater for the fact that vignetting is a light transmission effect, while GradientX only applies a subtractive correction. The result may look flat (for the background), but the brightness corrections to the stars are entirely missing. If you read the Gradient help, Russel points out that GradientX is not the tool to use for correcting vignetting. You really need to work on getting good flats

Tonk, Thanks for the info. I would love to have a new version of the photoshop, but I just can't justify spending that much on the program. sorry. Steve

Gary, Thanks. I've got to add flats next time. The filter is great and has added a whole new field for astrophotography when the moon is up and conditions in Ohio render it impossible to go out into the country to shoot-too cold. Steve

Sal, No, I don't have the rgb capability with the filters. My buddy, Mike Unsold, let me borrow the filter. I will probably purchase it from him. It does open up a whole avenue of shooting in my suburban area with its great light pollution. For a small community of 12,000, we have a lot of light pollution. Steve
